Autumn Term 2025
In Autumn 1, the children in Willow Class have been captivated by the mysteries of space. Their learning journey has included:
- Writing Excellence: Pupils wrote clear and detailed instructions on how to make slime. They used great vocabulary, imperative verbs, and adverbs to make their writing engaging and easy to follow, showcasing their growing language skills.
- Artistic Creativity – Retro-Futurism: The class explored the fascinating theme of retro-futurism, blending imaginative past visions of the future with their own ideas. They created a stunning final artwork that thoughtfully considered the background, middle ground, and foreground, demonstrating their understanding of artistic composition and storytelling.
- Discovery: In Topic lessons, pupils learned about constellations and enjoyed researching them, sparking awe and wonder. Then Willow class learnt about how Egyptians and Greeks told the time. The children then applied their knowledge practically by creating sundials an investigation to observe how shadows move throughout the day.
- Historical Investigation: The children delved into the life and achievements of Galileo Galilei, producing detailed and impressive fact files. This research activity encouraged independent learning and respect for pioneers of science.
- Understanding Solar System Theories: Using Purple Mash, the children recreated different solar system theories, deepening their conceptual understanding through interactive digital learning.
