Cross Country Championships
Priory Park, St Neots, 2 May 2019
On 2nd May 2019, selected Y5 and Y6 pupils participated in the yearly Cambridgeshire Primary School's Cross-Country Relay Championships at Priory Park, St Neots. Just over 900 children from all over the county take part in this fantastic event, believed to be one of the biggest relay events of its kind in the country.
Children aged 9-11 years compete in two separate races for boys and girls (four in each team) with each team member running a 1200 metre leg.
The event, now in its twenty-first year, has become tremendously popular and provides an ideal introduction to cross-country running for hundreds of youngsters. The children love running for their teams and they enjoy encouraging each other. Finishing first or last does not really matter too much, as it is the taking part and completing the course which means so much.
All of our teams did brilliantly, with the girls coming 2nd! A fantastic result.
Our thanks to the race organisers for making it such an unforgettable event for our pupils.
